Logica – AI drug development
I led strategic research and co-design for Logica, Charles River Labs’ AI-driven drug discovery platform.
The goal was to understand customer needs and behaviours, and define a premium, customer-centred experience that reflected the sophistication of the underlying science, to reframe Logica from a data delivery tool into a trusted, collaborative service.

My approach
Strategic discovery and research
Combined qualitative interviews, observation, and surveys with secondary research and competitor analysis.
Mapped the customer journey to reveal friction across communication, data delivery, and interpretation.
Synthesised insights into key opportunity themes that informed the service vision.
Key insights
Partnership is CRL’s differentiator – clients value proactive collaboration.
Diverse audiences need tailored communication – scientists and executives interpret data differently.
Data delivery was inefficient – customers repackaged outputs to make them usable.
From complexity to clarity
Translated findings into simple, visual artefacts including journey maps, opportunity themes, and mock-ups, to help cross-functional teams understand customer needs and envision a more premium service.
Visioning & co-design
Facilitated short, focused workshops with scientists, sales, and marketing teams to align on challenges and co-create future-state concepts.
Mapped the 'as-is' and 'future state' journeys, defined guiding principles, and facilitated ideation and sketching sessions to test ideas rapidly.
Prototyping and validation
Developed low-to-high-fidelity prototypes tailored to both scientific and commercial audiences.
Framed the new proposition through tangible scenarios that demonstrated how AI could power a more intuitive, contextual, and collaborative experience.
Outcome
Shifted focus from a reporting dashboard to a premium, customer-centred service vision
Aligned cross-functional stakeholders around shared insights and principles
Defined quick wins to improve the immediate customer experience
Delivered a business case and prototype that secured funding for an MVP
Elevated Logica’s positioning as a flagship example of AI-powered drug discovery
